Charles R Tittle, Emeritus Faculty of Sociology and renowned criminologist, passed away on May 6, 2021. Tittle joined NCSU’s Department of Sociology and Anthropology in 2000 as the Goodnight/Glaxo-Wellcome Distinguished Chair of Social Sciences and served in that esteemed position until 2010. Tittle taught undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of criminology during his 15-year tenure in our department. He also served on numerous MA and PhD committees, retiring from the academy in 2015.

Students and colleagues mourn the loss of this remarkable scholar. Two sessions at the upcoming 2021 American Society of Criminology (ASC) meetings are dedicated to highlighting Tittle’s scholarly contributions to the field.
