Dean’s Scholar program expands

Aspiring to be osteoarchaeologists, federal prosecutors and museum curators, the latest cohort of Humanities and Social Sciences Dean’s Scholars have big plans for the future. Thanks to contributions from college donors, the seven recipients of this year’s Dean’s Scholar Award can also plan on being something else — experiential learners.

Sasha Newell Wins The Amaury Talbot Prize

Assistant Professor Sasha Newell’s  2012 book The Modernity Bluff: Crime, Consumption, and Citizenship in Côte d’Ivoire (University of Chicago Press) recently won The Amaury Talbot Prize for the most valuable work relating to African anthropology in 2012. Two CHASS Faculty Members Named University Scholars

Two CHASS faculty members are among the first recipients of the University Faculty Scholars program. The scholars will receive $10,000 for each of the next five years to pursue their academic endeavors. The program aims to strengthen NC State by retaining and investing in top leaders and rewarding them for their outstanding work.

Student’s Selfless Service Wins 2012 Community Impact Award

Congratulations to Britt Taylor, recipient of the 2012 Community Impact Award. The anthropology major was recognized by the North Carolina Campus Compact during its annual student conference for his outstanding efforts to address hunger and other community needs.
